28 Years of Practical Horticultural Experience
For 28 years, I have worked hands-on with gardens and landscapes across northern England, developing an instinctive understanding of plants, soils, climate and the practical realities of managing a garden well.
My work is centred on the Peak District and the Lake District - two beautiful but demanding landscapes where exposure, rainfall, altitude, soil and local microclimate can make the difference between a garden that merely survives and one that genuinely thrives.
Having grown up with strong connections to both agriculture and horticulture, an understanding of landscape, planting and the natural environment has always been part of my life. I also hold an RHS Diploma in Horticulture and Garden Design, providing a formal foundation alongside nearly three decades of practical experience.
I believe gardens should not only look beautiful, but feel natural, manageable and appropriate to the people who live with them. My advice is practical and realistic, taking into account not just how a garden looks, but how it will actually be used and cared for.
Whether working with an established country garden, a newly purchased property or a garden needing a fresh direction, my aim is simple - to give clients the knowledge and confidence to make good decisions about their garden.
